Alberto Coz
I am full professor in the department of chemistry and process and resource engineering at the University of Cantabria. I teach chemistry at the School of Nautical Studies and industrial chemistry at the School of Industrial Engineers. In addition, I also teach science and criminal investigation classes, chemistry in our environment and ecology and environment in the Senior program of the University of Cantabria and two scientific communication subjects in the Doctoral School.

On the other hand, I am a researcher in the GER research group on green engineering and resources. I would highlight within my research the issues of waste recovery, especially biomass waste, and biorefinery processes. Waste recovery tries to find uses for the waste we generate. On the other hand, biorefinery processes are those in which biomass is transformed into useful products, similar to those obtained through petroleum.
Currently, in addition to teaching and research, I like to dedicate part of my time to science outreaching. I am part of the BigVan Ciencia group at national level.
If you speak Spanish, here you can see an example of a scientific monologue I presented during the European night of the researchers:
Personally, I am shy and above all introverted, so I prefer writing over oral communication. I hate vinegar and the people who stand on the doors of public transport from the moment they enter them. I like the theater and spend my holidays in Chania.

María
Hi there!
I am María, PhD student in the University of Cantabria.
I live in Cantabria, a small region in the North part of Spain well-known by its natural places, a region where coastal areas and snowy mountains merge in a perfect way, as you can see in this video by the government of the region:
I have always liked science and investigation and, currently, I am performing my dream to become a PhD student and continue broadening my knowledge about science and, more concretely, about biology and medicine.

In order to define myself, I believe the best way to do it is graphically, by showing this wordcloud in the shape of a flask (since my PhD is related to Biology and Biomedicine and entails a loto f laboratory work). In the wordcloud, you can appreciate Javi Polinaro values that I consider define myself, divided in colours in different cathegories: Professional values, my PhD values, how do I define myself and my goaled values to achieve.
Besides, at a more personal level, I consider myself a person who loves people and enjoys spending time with them, whether it’s with my family, close friends, or meeting new people. I value meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and the sense of connection that comes from being around others. In my free time, I also enjoy exercising and playing sports, which I find both exciting and a great way to stay active and relieve stress. Travelling is another passion of mine, as it allows me to explore new cultures, try different cuisines, and broaden my perspective of the world.
Thank you for Reading a little bit about me, hoping to reading you in comments.

Mohamed Ilougui
Hi! I’m Mohamed, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Information Technology for Smart and Sustainable Mobility at INSA Hauts-de-France.
My interests are mainly focused on technology, especially how it can help improve transport and make life easier for everyone.
In my free time, I enjoy learning new programming skills, working on small projects in Unity, and developing mobile games. I’m passionate about finding creative ways to solve problems and making things simple for others.
One of my favorite hobbies is trying out simple DIY tech projects, like setting up a smart home device, using Raspberry Pi, or building small automated systems. Doing these kinds of projects helps me understand tech better, and I enjoy seeing how something simple can turn into a real working idea.
I strongly believe technology should be used to support sustainability and make transport more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Below, you can see the word cloud I created earlier, reflecting the ideas and concepts that matter most to me!

Below is the word cloud I created in Task 1

Tessa Duhayon

Hey! I’m Tessa Duhayon from Belgium. I’m currently finishing my master’s degree in biomedical sciences specializing in neurosciences at the University of Mons. I also studied biology during my bachelor’s degree but decided to pursue my education in biomedical sciences.
One topic that absolutely interests me is nutrition; I always like to look into what I’m eating to improve my well-being mentally and physically. I also like cooking and get creative with it.
Besides that, I’m also pretty active and really like to do anything as long as I’m moving my body, but my ABSOLUTE favorites are dancing, swimming, and bicycling.
By now, you probably have gotten to know what type of person I am, and so this won’t surprise you. Traveling is everything to me; I thrive by discovering astonishing sceneries, cultures, and people. Traveling makes me feel alive and is the activity that brings me the most joy in my life, and I don’t have to go far to have a sense of travel.

Guillermo Plaza

Hello!
My name is Guillermo Plaza, and I am a PhD student at the University of Cantabria. I am a Civil Engineer, and my research focuses on project management.
My hobbies include sports (especially going to the gym, although I enjoy many kinds of sports), fishing, and building things out of wood. Another typical hobby here in Santander is fishing. However, I haven’t had much time to practice it lately, as I recently became a father.
Living in Santander is easy and pleasant. It’s a medium-sized city with all the services you need and plenty of things to do—museums, nature, sports, sunshine… I encourage all of you to visit our city at least once!
I’ve just started my research, so I don’t have much to share yet, but I hope to be able to present something interesting next year.
Last but not least, I would like to share with you my word cloud.

Have a nice summer!
Delia Fernandez Lozano
Hi everyone!
My name is Delia Fernández, and I’m a medical doctor specializing in rheumatology, currently working at Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe in Valencia, Spain. I’m also pursuing a Ph.D. in Medicine at the University of Cantabria, where my research focuses on autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases.
In my clinical practice, I’m especially interested in systemic inflammatory conditions and the integration of research into patient care. I strongly believe in evidence-based medicine and collaborative learning across institutions.
Outside the hospital and academic life, I’m passionate about traveling and cultural exploration. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Seoul, where I truly enjoyed its gastronomy, urban energy, and cultural richness. Some of the things I love the most include:
- Discovering local food scenes

- Exploring architecture, museums, and city life

- Meeting people from different backgrounds and learning from them
To me, travel is more than leisure—it’s a way to grow both personally and professionally, building empathy and perspective that I bring back to my work as a physician and researcher.

Davide Golinelli

I am currently a PhD student in Economics, specializing in Econometrics. My research focuses on the intersection of technology, productivity, and environmental economics—areas that I believe are increasingly critical in shaping sustainable and inclusive economic systems.
Previously, I worked as a teacher in a private high school in Italy, where I taught business economics, political economics, and accounting. In addition to regular classroom teaching, I also managed afterschool educational activities and provided private tutoring to students in need of support.
Beyond my academic and teaching work, I have a strong interest in understanding the broader societal impacts of economic systems. I am particularly concerned about the persistent dominance of capitalist structures that often reward brute strength over cooperation and contribute to widening inequalities. These reflections deeply influence both my academic interests and my personal outlook.
Outside of research and teaching, I enjoy playing sports—especially basketball, though I’m happy to join almost any game. I love reading books, particularly novels and essays, and I’m passionate about cinema as a way to explore human complexity and social issues.
Personally, I dislike egoism and all forms of arrogance directed toward others. I believe in empathy and in building societies based on fairness, rather than competition.
